Supporting women, infants, children, and families, the WIC Program is dedicated to aiding low-income families, new mothers (both breastfeeding and non-breastfeeding), and infants and children up to age 5 facing nutritional risks. The program achieves this by offering crucial nutrition counseling, promoting and supporting breastfeeding, and providing various resources.

WIC resources encompass supplemental food, referrals to healthcare services, nutrition education, and assistance with breastfeeding. The WIC Program, located in both the East End of Bridgeport and the city of Stamford, offers a range of services, including one-on-one consultations with nutritionists or trained professionals, breastfeeding support, opportunities for families to connect and exchange information, referrals to healthcare and social service programs, and the issuance of an eWIC card for purchasing healthy food for individuals and their children.

WIC services are available to the following individuals and families:

  1. Pregnant individuals, supporting the pregnancy and up to 6 weeks after birth or the conclusion of pregnancy.
  2. Breastfeeding individuals, up to the infant's first birthday.
  3. Postpartum individuals, up to 6 months after the birth of an infant or the conclusion of pregnancy.
  4. Infants, up to their first birthday. WIC serves 45% of all infants born in the United States.
  5. Children up to their fifth birthday (with applications accepted from fathers, grandparents, foster parents, or other guardians).

Eligibility for WIC services requires meeting income guidelines set at or below 185% of the federal poverty income limit.

Other eligibility criteria include completing a nutrition assessment with WIC staff, residing in Connecticut (U.S. citizenship not mandatory, and WIC does not require proof of citizenship or immigration status), and the assurance that participation in WIC will not impact immigration or naturalization status.

The Official WIC program is available to low to moderate income pregnant women, recently delivered women, breastfeeding women, infants, and children up to age 5 who are at nutrition risk. Fathers can also bring their children to apply for WIC. You may apply for WIC if you are working or unemployed. Check the Income Guidelines Table to see if you are eligible for WIC. This website was created for women looking for WIC information and locations. We are also working towards adding other locations and services that may help out women.

Hello, I used to receive wic benefits in West Virginia, but now I have moved to Near East Hartford Ct and was wondering if I could Sign up for the online Wic Lessons and also be evaluated for Benefits for my child still under the age of Five. Again to be a better parent when it comes to how to handle diverse situations. Also, I believe that Wic benefits should be still provided or Extended to Struggling Families with Low incomes Especially if the mothers are working and/or have disabilities or handicaps of Any Kind or stay at Home Moms Too with Children who need extra Medical Care Because Living Expenses are so High When Childcare Expenses Are so High. This Benefit should not only Go to Military Families Only because Employment is Low and Families Nationwide are unable to Provide Healthy Food or Meals to Their Families, they should also go into consideration for EBT benefits. Otherwise Military families will end up Arguing and Fighting with Families for who do not have military Backgrounds. This is an advocacy Request for Some Better Peace and Fairness in the world Because I feel so Defeated from Dealing With Mental Illness As A Disabled Parent. This all In All Inquiry Will Improve the Healthy Lives Hopefully for many Families I Support.
