WIC (Women Infants, & Children) is a supplemental nutrition program for babies, children under the age of 5, pregnant women, breastfeeding women, and women who have had a baby in the last 6 months. WIC helps families by providing healthy foods, nutrition education, and referrals to other health care agencies. GoogleThe Women Infants and Children Supplemental Nutrition Program, otherwise known as WIC, turns 40 years old this year! Over the past forty years, millions of moms have found a safe haven in the WIC Program. FamilyWIC FamiliesWIC families include infants and children up to 5 years old and women who are pregnant, breastfeeding or have had a baby in the last 6 months. Fathers, stepparents, grandparents and foster parents may all apply for their children. AgenciesWIC AgenciesWIC agencies provide services locally to the WIC families including nutrition education, breastfeeding promotion and support, nutritious food packages, and referrals to other health programs.For more information about WIC, call 1-800-532-1579 or (515) 281-6650.In accordance with Federal civil rights law and U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) civil rights regulations and policies, the USDA, its Agencies, offices, and employees, and institutions participating in or administering USDA programs are prohibited from discriminating based on race, color, national origin, sex, disability, age, or reprisal or retaliation for prior civil rights activity in any program or activity conducted or funded by USDA. Persons with disabilities who require alternative means of communication for program information (e.g. Braille, large print, audiotape, American Sign Language, etc.), should contact the Agency (State or local) where they applied for benefits. Individuals who are deaf, hard of hearing or have speech disabilities may contact USDA through the Federal Relay Service at (800) 877-8339. Additionally, program information may be made available in languages other than English. WIC vendors are stores that are approved by the State WIC office to accept WIC checks that are provided by the local WIC agencies.

The Official WIC program is available to low to moderate income pregnant women, recently delivered women, breastfeeding women, infants, and children up to age 5 who are at nutrition risk. Fathers can also bring their children to apply for WIC. You may apply for WIC if you are working or unemployed. Check the Income Guidelines Table to see if you are eligible for WIC.
