Office Information:

The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) in Missouri provides supplemental foods, nutrition education, and healthcare referrals to low-income pregnant, breastfeeding, and postpartum women, and to infants and children up to age five who are at nutritional risk.

Eligibility:
Residency: Must be a resident of Missouri.
Category: Pregnant, breastfeeding, postpartum up to 6 months, infants, or children under age 5.
Income: Meet income guidelines (determined by family size and income).
Nutritional Risk: Be determined to be at nutritional risk by a healthcare professional.

Services:
Healthy Foods: Receive vouchers for specific nutritious foods like milk, cheese, eggs, fruits, vegetables, cereal, and juice.
Nutrition Education: Learn about healthy eating for yourself and your children, including breastfeeding support.
Healthcare Referrals: Get connected with a doctor, dentist, or other healthcare providers.

Benefits:
Improves health outcomes: Reduces low birth weight, improves child growth and development, increases vaccination rates, reduces iron deficiency anemia, and improves diet quality.
Saves money: Provides nutritious food at no cost.
Connects to healthcare: Helps ensure access to needed medical care.

Challenges:
Participation rate: Participation rate in Missouri is lower than the national average. This may be due to factors like lack of awareness, transportation barriers, and an offline benefits system.
Online system coming soon: In late 2024, Missouri plans to transition to an online benefits system which may improve accessibility.

The Official WIC program is available to low to moderate income pregnant women, recently delivered women, breastfeeding women, infants, and children up to age 5 who are at nutrition risk. Fathers can also bring their children to apply for WIC. You may apply for WIC if you are working or unemployed. Check the Income Guidelines Table to see if you are eligible for WIC. This website was created for women looking for WIC information and locations. We are also working towards adding other locations and services that may help out women.

Has anyone ever used this service? How was it?

If you like good customer service this definitely isn’t the place to go. 5 min late policy so if you’re a working mom or dealing with a baby they aren’t understanding. I was 8 min late because of traffic from work and daycare and my baby threw up on his clothes as we were leaving and didn’t wanna take him in the cold in wet clothes.

The absolute rudest staff every single time we go there, especially the ladies working the front desk. Definitely doesn’t make you feel warm and welcome about receiving govt benefits.
