Here's what you can expect after applying for WIC in Ohio:

Initial Processing:
Verification: Your information will be verified, including income, residency, and health status. This might involve reviewing your documents and conducting health screenings.
Decision Timeline: Processing times can vary depending on the clinic and individual circumstances. It could take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks. You might receive a notification by phone, mail, or online portal.
Outcome: You'll be notified of the decision - either approval or denial. If approved, you'll receive an EBT card to use at authorized WIC vendors.

Upon Approval:
Orientation: Attend an orientation session to learn about program benefits, food packages, using the EBT card, and accessing additional services.
Certification Period: Your initial certification period will likely be six months. You'll need to recertify regularly (usually every six months) to continue receiving benefits.
Clinic Appointments: Schedule regular appointments with your WIC clinic for health screenings, nutrition counseling, breastfeeding support, and monitoring your child's development.

Benefits:
Food Packages: Receive vouchers or EBT funds to purchase specific WIC-approved healthy foods like milk, cereal, eggs, fruits, vegetables, and infant formula.
Health Services: Access health screenings, immunizations, referrals to health care providers, and nutrition counseling.
Breastfeeding Support: Receive peer counseling, lactation consultations, and breastfeeding supplies.
Other Services: Depending on your clinic, you might benefit from additional services like cooking classes, parenting workshops, and referrals to other social service programs.

The Official WIC program is available to low to moderate income pregnant women, recently delivered women, breastfeeding women, infants, and children up to age 5 who are at nutrition risk. Fathers can also bring their children to apply for WIC. You may apply for WIC if you are working or unemployed. Check the Income Guidelines Table to see if you are eligible for WIC. This website was created for women looking for WIC information and locations. We are also working towards adding other locations and services that may help out women.

I called July 9,2020 because my twins pediatrician sent over a script for their formula. I was told a dietitian would call me to let me know what time I could come load my card. No one ever called!!! I called July 10th and the office is closed and my twins have no milk to get through the weekend!!! That is ridiculous on every level!!!!

Very helpful staff, The younger dietitians really seem to care about my kids. The foods they give are very helpful to my family, and I like being able to ask questions to people who seem to know. The breastfeeding info was great too.

I have been trying to cancel an appointment for TWO DAYS now. This is ridiculas. Everytime i call i get a recording that says theyre either closed or at lunch. They are not closed. Nor does their lunch hour last two days. I have contacted other agencies in warren i am involved with to possibly find an email. To no avail. This is ridiculas! Why do women with children who need assistence need this added stress! We dont.
